Old-fashioned white pattypan squash, tender and with a delicious nutty flavor

Early White Scallop summer squash ( Cucurbita pepo ), offered by OSC Seeds

An heirloom variety over 400 years old, also known as the white pattypan squash , this summer squash produces attractive 12 cm disc- shaped fruits with scalloped edges and a pale green skin speckled with white . Its flesh has a creamy texture and a mild, nutty flavor, especially when cooked quickly. Highly reliable, productive, and decorative, it is perfect sautéed, roasted, stuffed, or grilled.

Propagation: Indoor sowing or direct sowing in spring
Height/Habit: Bushy
Package size: Approximately 20 seeds
Harvest time: 50–60 days

Planting and maintenance:
Sow when the soil is thoroughly warmed, or start seeds indoors a few weeks before planting out. Plant in full sun in rich, well-drained soil. Bushy plants require moderate space but prefer good air circulation. Harvest young fruit for tenderer flesh and a sweeter flavor. Water regularly to maintain consistent production.
