description
Large bronze-green Hubbard squash with sweet and very thick flesh
Winter squash “Green Hubbard” ( Cucurbita maxima ), offered by OSC Seeds
An old heirloom variety, “Green Hubbard” descends from wild squashes of South America, where summers are similar to those of southern Ontario. Its hard, slightly warty , bronze-green fruits average 30 cm long and 20 cm wide . Their thick , dry , orange-yellow flesh is pleasantly sweet and ideal for soups, purées, pies, and roasted dishes. A vigorous and prolific variety, it requires plenty of space due to its long vines and the impressive size of its fruit.
