Winter squash “Table Queen” ( Cucurbita pepo ), offered by OSC Seeds
Introduced in 1913 , this early-maturing heirloom squash produces acorn -shaped fruits about 15 cm in diameter. Its hard, dark green shell encloses pale yellow flesh that is extremely sweet , with a flavor reminiscent of sweet potato . Highly reliable and productive, 'Table Queen' is also an excellent winter storeer , maintaining its quality very well in storage.

Planting and maintenance:
Sow directly when the soil reaches 30°C (86°F) , as very warm temperatures stimulate rapid germination and prevent seed rot. Some gardeners also successfully start seeds indoors with bottom heat . Transplant only when the soil temperature is consistently above 15°C (59°F) . Plant in full sun , in rich, well-drained soil. Water deeply but moderately. Harvest when the skin is firm and the fruit has fully developed its color. Store in a cool, dry place for long-term storage.
