A highly reliable and productive variety, 'Homesteader' produces long, full pods with a mild, fresh flavor, ideal for cooking or freezing. Adapted to cooler climates , it germinates early in spring and tolerates low temperatures well. These vigorous peas can be grown in rows, blocks, or double rows to maximize yield and facilitate harvesting. A classic in home vegetable gardens.

Planting and maintenance:
Peas prefer cool conditions . Sow from early April to mid-May , when the soil temperature is between 10 and 16°C (50 and 61°F) . Sow in double rows spaced 25 cm (10 in) apart , with seeds 6.5 cm (2.5 in) apart and 1.25–2.5 cm (0.7–10 in) deep. Leave 75 cm ( 30 in) between each set of double rows. Water regularly for even germination. Support the plants to facilitate harvesting. Avoid fertilizers high in nitrogen. Harvest daily when the pods are ripe to maximize flavor and encourage continuous production.
