description
Organic Red Trinidad Scorpion Hot Pepper (Capsicum chinense) is a spectacular annual variety sought after by extreme pepper enthusiasts and adventurous vegetable gardeners. Its bumpy fruits ripen bright red and feature a small characteristic point reminiscent of a scorpion tail, giving them a truly distinctive appearance. The vigorous plant reaches about 90 to 120 cm tall and produces numerous small white flowers followed by highly decorative fruits. Known among the hottest peppers in the world, it also offers a fruity, slightly floral flavor, ideal for powerful hot sauces, spicy powders, and very hot marinades.
This hot pepper seed requires a long growing season and benefits from being started indoors from February to April, about 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost. Germination is best in warmth, between 24 and 30°C, in a light, well-drained seed-starting mix. After frost danger has passed, transplant into full sun in fertile, organic-rich, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Regular watering without excess and balanced fertilization support flowering and fruiting. In containers, use a 20 to 30 L pot to encourage good ripening in Canada.
In the vegetable garden, large containers, or culinary garden, Organic Red Trinidad Scorpion Hot Pepper becomes both a collector plant and a productive crop. Its bright red fruits create strong visual impact among tomatoes, eggplants, carrots, and onions while providing a valuable harvest for drying, hot sauces, and homemade seasonings. The small white flowers attract bees and other pollinators, encouraging good fruiting and supporting garden biodiversity. Harvest fruits about 100 days after transplanting once fully colored, and handle them with great care.
