Discover the plant
Organic orange ‘Etiuda’ pepper (Capsicum annuum ‘Etiuda’) is a sweet Polish variety producing blocky, thick-walled bell fruit that turns vivid orange at maturity. Crisp, juicy, very sweet flesh suits snacking as well as cooked dishes. Baker Creek describes Etiuda as a highly adaptable former Polish commercial variety, while Adaptive Seeds notes its early, abundant production. The Biologiquement Vôtre workbook lists approximately 10 organic, heirloom, open-pollinated seeds, plant height of 60–75 cm, and spread near 40 cm.
Sow indoors February through April, approximately eight to ten weeks before last frost, 0.5–1 cm deep. Maintain 24–30°C and even moisture; emergence normally takes 7–14 days. After germination provide intense light, pot up as required, and harden gradually. Transplant after all frost risk into full sun and fertile, organic-rich, well-drained soil. Maintain even moisture without saturation and stake branches if they carry a heavy crop. A 15–20 L container suits one plant.
The supplier workbook places harvest around 75 days after transplanting, consistent with the horticultural descriptions consulted, generally 75–80 days. Green fruit is already edible, but full orange colour reveals milder, fruitier, sweeter flavour. Harvest while firm and glossy and clip stems to protect branches. Thick flesh is excellent fresh, in crudités and salads, grilled, roasted, stir-fried, or stuffed. Maximum fruit weight cited by some catalogues is not guaranteed for this lot.
