Pyrus communis 'Harrow Sweet' is a European pear tree developed in Canada, prized for its remarkable resistance to fire blight and its ability to produce high-quality fruit. Its medium- to large-sized pears have green skin with a slight red blush and fine-grained, juicy, and very sweet white flesh with a pleasantly fragrant flavor. Harvested in late summer, this variety is ideal for fresh eating, desserts, and preserving. 'Harrow Sweet' is self-fertile, but may produce better in the presence of another pollinator variety. Its abundant spring blooms attract beneficial insects, while its vigorous growth and ease of cultivation make it an excellent choice for home orchards as well as for growers concerned with quality and resilience.
