Pyrus communis 'Luscious' is a pear tree prized for its small, classically shaped fruits, with greenish-yellow skin often enhanced with a red blush. Its flesh is fine-grained, very juicy, exceptionally sweet, and fragrant, with a melting texture reminiscent of the 'Bartlett' pear, but with a more intense flavor. Developed for northern climates, 'Luscious' exhibits good resistance to fire blight and is well-suited to home orchards. Not self-fertile, it requires the presence of another compatible variety to ensure effective pollination. Harvested in late summer, this pear is ideal for fresh consumption and artisanal processing. Its decorative foliage and abundant spring blooms also make it a beautiful ornamental addition to the garden.
