Family
Anacardiaceae

Rhus aromatica ‘Grow Low’, also known as fragrant sumac ‘Grow Low’, is a deciduous groundcover shrub with a spreading, dense habit, recognized for its great hardiness and spectacular autumn color. More compact and lower than the species type, it forms a branched carpet ideal for stabilizing slopes and covering large areas. Its medium-green, three-lolobed foliage releases a slight aromatic scent when crushed and turns scarlet red in autumn, offering a remarkable seasonal impact. In spring, small yellowish flowers appear before the foliage, followed by velvety red fruits on female plants. Rhus aromatica ‘Grow Low’ prefers full sun and tolerates poor, dry soils once established. Very tough and undemanding, it is an excellent choice for naturalized plantings.
