Ribes rubrum 'Pink Champagne'
Ribes rubrum 'Pink Champagne', also known as 'Pink Champagne' redcurrant, is a deciduous fruit bush highly valued for its elegant clusters of luminous pale pink translucent redcurrants. Its flexible and well-branched bushy habit fits equally well in vegetable gardens, edible landscaping, or fruit hedges. In spring, small discreet greenish flowers appear and attract pollinating insects before giving way to abundant fruiting. The fruits, slightly sweeter and less acidic than redcurrants, offer a delicate and refreshing flavor much appreciated for fresh consumption, desserts, jellies, and syrups. The translucent clusters also provide a remarkable ornamental interest in the garden. The lobed green foliage creates a dense and natural texture and releases a slight characteristic vegetal smell when crushed.
