Rubus odoratus
Rubus odoratus, commonly known as the flowering raspberry, is a deciduous shrub with a bushy, spreading habit, valued for its spectacular bloom and ample, maple-like foliage. Native to North America, it is distinguished by its large, slightly fragrant purplish-pink flowers that bloom during the summer and attract pollinators in abundance. Its broad, lobed, light green foliage provides a lush texture to flower beds and naturalistic gardens. Very hardy and vigorous, Rubus odoratus is used for informal hedges, as a privacy screen, or for stabilizing embankments. Its small red fruits, although edible, are primarily favored by wildlife. Easy to grow, it adapts to various soil types and tolerates partial shade, making it an excellent choice for ecological gardens.
