A Brilliant Pink-Purple Bloom
Seeds of pink geranium 'Sanguineum' (Perennial Geranium) , offered by the seed company OSC.
Stunning 5 cm diameter, pink-purple flowers brighten the garden from June to September. This geranium forms mounds of bright green foliage up to 45 cm tall. Although it is known for its hardiness in mild winters such as those in Vancouver or Victoria, in zones 5 and 6, winter survival is spotty elsewhere. It is therefore best grown as an annual in most parts of Canada.

How to grow:
Start seeds indoors in a soilless mix in late January or early February. Sow 6mm deep at 21–24°C. Germination can take up to 20 days. Once germinated, grow under lights at a slightly cooler temperature (15–18°C). Transplant seedlings into 10cm pots to strengthen them before moving them into the ground after frost. Plant in well-drained, sunny soil, 45cm apart.
