Spiraea betulifolia 'Thor'

Latin name
Spiraea betulifolia 'Thor'
Common name
Birch-leaved spirea 'Thor'
Type
Shrub
Family
Rosaceae

Spiraea betulifolia 'Thor' is a dwarf and very hardy spirea, forming a small, dense, and regular ball, ideal for borders, embankments, rockeries, or compact plant beds. Its unique, dense, and veined foliage evokes that of birch in spring with coppery bronze highlights, turning bright green in summer, then flaming orange-yellow to vibrant red in autumn. In summer, it produces white corymb flowers, beautifully contrasting with the foliage. Very tolerant of cold, wind, poor soils, and temporary drought, 'Thor' requires almost no maintenance. It is a small structural shrub, discreet in size but spectacular in texture and seasonal color.
