Spiraea japonica 'Froebelli'
Spiraea japonica ‘Froebelli’, commonly known as Froebel spirea, is a deciduous shrub with a rounded, dense habit, valued for its colorful foliage and sustained summer flowering. In spring, its young shoots emerge bronze-red, then turn dark green in summer before taking on a reddish-purple hue in autumn, offering prolonged seasonal interest. In summer, it produces large flat corymbs composed of small dark pink to magenta-pink flowers, which are melliferous and very attractive to pollinators. More vigorous than some dwarf varieties, it is suitable for beds, low hedges, and group plantings. Spiraea japonica ‘Froebelli’ prefers well-drained soil and a sunny exposure to maintain the intensity of its coloration and ensure abundant flowering.
