Symphoricarpos albus
Symphoricarpos albus, commonly known as common snowberry or snowberry, is a native deciduous shrub recognized for its great hardiness and persistent decorative fruit production. It develops a bushy, suckering habit, often wider than tall, forming dense colonies ideal for embankments, country hedges, and naturalistic landscaping. In early summer, small, discreet pale pink to whitish flowers appear and attract pollinators. These are followed by round, pure white berries that persist long into autumn and winter, offering significant visual interest and a food source for wildlife. Its bluish-green foliage completes the picture with a soft texture. Highly tolerant of varied soils and difficult conditions, Symphoricarpos albus is an excellent choice for ecological northern gardens.
