Cultivation method

'Regal Oak' green oak leaf lettuce grows in full sun to partial shade in light, well-drained soil rich in compost . Sow directly into the ground as soon as the soil warms in spring, or start seedlings indoors 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting . Sow 1/4 inch deep , in rows 8 to 10 inches apart, then thin out seedlings to 6 inches to ensure proper development. Regular watering , especially during hot weather, keeps the leaves tender and sweet and prevents bolting. Harvest by cutting leaf by leaf or by cutting the entire rosette , allowing new growth for a continuous harvest.
