Organic yellow tomato 'Taxi'
Organic Taxi Yellow Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a compact, early, determinate annual variety valued for its bright yellow fruits with a mild, low-acid flavor. With its moderate 60 to 90 cm (24 to 36 in) habit, it brings beautiful ornamental value to family vegetable gardens, urban gardens, and container plantings, where its luminous color stands out among traditional red tomatoes. Its tender, juicy, slightly sweet flesh is ideal for fresh eating, salads, sandwiches, slices, and tasting platters. Easy to grow, it usually provides its first harvests about 65 days after transplanting.
Organic Taxi Yellow Tomato should be sown indoors from February to April, about 0.5 cm (1/4 in) deep, at a steady temperature of 22 to 28°C (72 to 82°F). Germination is usually quick, in 5 to 10 days, when seedlings receive proper warmth and light. After the last frosts, hardened-off plants can be transplanted into full sun, in fertile, organic-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil. It grows very well in 35 to 45 cm (14 to 18 in) diameter pots, planters, or in the ground. Deep watering, organic mulch, moderate fertilization, and light support encourage steady production.
In the edible garden, Organic Taxi Yellow Tomato is perfect for small spaces, balconies, patios, and vegetable beds where simplicity, yield, and color are desired. Its determinate growth makes maintenance easy while still providing flavorful harvests from June to August, depending on growing conditions.
