Tomato 'Beefy Purple' organic
Organic Beefy Purple Marbled Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a determinate annual beefsteak-type variety valued for its large marbled fruits in purple, red, and mahogany tones. Its compact plant, about 90 cm (36 in) tall, brings strong presence to the vegetable garden, with remarkable ornamental value as the heavy, colorful fruits develop among the foliage. Its dense, juicy, generous flesh, almost seedless, reveals the rich flavor typical of premium tasting tomatoes. It is perfect for salads, sandwiches, thick slices, tasting platters, and fresh preparations, with harvests usually around 75 days after transplanting.
Organic Beefy Purple Marbled Tomato should be sown indoors from March to April, about 1 cm (0.4 in) deep, at a steady temperature of 22 to 28°C (72 to 82°F). Germination usually takes 7 to 14 days when seedlings receive proper warmth and light. After the last frosts, hardened-off plants can be transplanted into full sun, in fertile, organic-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil. It grows very well in large 40 to 50 cm (16 to 20 in) diameter containers. A sturdy stake, deep watering, organic mulch, and moderate potassium-rich fertilization support the production of large fruits.
In the edible garden, Organic Beefy Purple Marbled Tomato is ideal for family vegetable gardens, edible landscapes, and collections of unusual tomatoes where flavor, beauty, and impressive fruits are desired. Its determinate growth makes it easier to integrate into smaller spaces while still providing abundant harvests from July to September. Basil, chives, and parsley are good companion plants, while rotation with other nightshades helps reduce certain crop issues. Its yellow flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and other pollinating insects, supporting good fruiting and beneficial biodiversity in the vegetable garden.
