Cultivation method:
Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected spring frost date. Use a peat moss-based growing mix and maintain a temperature of 70 to 75°F (21 to 24°C) to promote rapid germination.
When seedlings reach 4 cm (1.75"), transplant them into individual pots and reduce the temperature to 15 to 18°C (59 to 65°F). After hardening off, transplant them into well-drained organic soil, spacing the plants 60 cm (24") apart for this determinate variety.
Water the soil directly to prevent diseases and apply a straw mulch around the plants to conserve moisture and protect against soil splashes. Maintain consistent watering to prevent problems such as fruit cracking or blossom end rot.
An Italian tomato par excellence!
The 'San Marzano Determinate' tomato is a great choice for gardeners looking to make rich, flavorful sauces or homemade preserves. Its reliable yield and authentic flavor make it an ideal variety for the vegetable garden, providing a generous harvest all season long!
