Planting and growing perennial asparagus
When and where to plant
Plant the claws in spring (March-April), in rich, deep and well-drained soil .
This variety tolerates clay or heavy soils , a rare advantage.
Place it in full sun for optimal growth.
How to plant
1Prepare a trench 15 cm deep.
2Space the rows 90 cm apart and the claws 40 cm apart.
3Cover with 5 cm of soil, then add more gradually as the plant grows.
4Water thoroughly after planting.

Do not harvest anything in the first year: let the plants establish themselves.
Water regularly, especially in dry weather.
Add compost or well-rotted manure every spring.
Use mulch to limit weeds and retain moisture.
Harvesting and cutting
Year 1 : No harvest
Year 2 : Moderate harvest (2 to 3 weeks)
Year 3 and following : Complete harvest (6 to 8 weeks)
Harvest the shoots when they are between 15 and 20 cm long. Cut them at the base with a clean knife or break them off by hand. Stop harvesting in June to encourage foliage development and plant vigor for the following year.
