Dahlia pinnata ‘Champagne Brunch’
Discover the plant
Champagne Brunch Dahlia Mix (Dahlia pinnata ‘Champagne Brunch’) features a beautiful selection of decorative dahlias with fully double flowers in a luminous blend of soft pink, apricot, and champagne yellow. Carried on strong stems, their large, full blooms add texture, freshness, and elegance to summer landscapes. Flowering continues generously from July to October, until the first frost, while the plants reach approximately 100 cm (39 in) tall. This fast-growing selection is a tender Zone 10 perennial that is not hardy in Quebec, so its tubers must be stored in a frost-free location over winter.
Plant the tubers in spring after all danger of frost has passed, 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 in) deep in rich, fertile, organic, and well-drained soil. Choose a location in full sun and space plants approximately 50 cm (20 in) apart to promote good air circulation. Water lightly after planting, then keep the soil evenly moist without becoming waterlogged once active growth begins. Fertilize every two weeks while avoiding excessive nitrogen, remove spent flowers regularly, and stake the stems when necessary. Lift the tubers before the first frost and store them in a cool, dry location.
The ‘Champagne Brunch’ mix is perfect for sunny flower beds, colourful borders, large containers at least 45 cm (18 in) in diameter, and cut-flower gardens. Its soft colours pair beautifully with cosmos, salvias, verbenas, zinnias, and ornamental grasses to create natural, luminous displays. The double flowers have excellent vase life and are ideal for creating elegant bouquets throughout the season, especially when the water is changed regularly. Their abundant blooms also bring life to the garden and attract a variety of pollinators, while regular deadheading continuously encourages the formation of new flower buds.
