Dahlia pinnata ‘Champagne Brunch’
Discover the plant
Champagne Brunch Dahlia Mix (Dahlia pinnata ‘Champagne Brunch’) is an elegant blend of decorative dahlias with large, fully double flowers in soft shades of pink, apricot, and champagne yellow. Their generous bloom period, from July until the first frost, brings light and refinement to summer landscapes. Growing to approximately 100 cm (40 in) tall, the plants quickly develop strong stems carrying an abundance of full, luminous flowers. This tender Zone 10 perennial is not hardy in Quebec, so the tubers must be lifted in autumn and stored in a frost-free location.
Plant the tubers in spring after all danger of frost has passed, 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 in) deep in rich, fertile, organic, and well-drained soil. Choose a location in full sun and space plants approximately 50 cm (20 in) apart to ensure good air circulation. Water lightly after planting, then more regularly as growth accelerates, keeping the soil evenly moist without excess water. Fertilize every two weeks, remove spent flowers to encourage new buds, and stake the stems when necessary. Overwinter the tubers in a cool, dry, frost-free location.
The ‘Champagne Brunch’ mix is perfectly suited to sunny flower beds, colourful borders, large containers, and cutting gardens. Its soft tones pair beautifully with cosmos, salvias, verbenas, zinnias, and ornamental grasses to create elegant, natural, and romantic displays. The double flowers have excellent vase life and are ideal for creating beautiful, luminous bouquets throughout the season. Their sustained flowering also brings life to the garden and may attract a variety of pollinators. When flowers are harvested regularly and spent blooms are removed, the plants continue producing until the first frost.
