Discover the plant
‘Tiny Rocket’ Asiatic Lily (Lilium) brings a vibrant red bloom without the height of larger lilies used at the back of borders. Its approximate size of 35 cm (14 in) allows it to be placed near a path, in front of taller perennials, or in a container that you admire up close. The package includes three bulbs, to be grouped together to create a colourful accent. Its summer flowers stand out against the green foliage and provide a clear presence in a small planting. Choose this variety when you want to enjoy the silhouette of a lily in a design where each plant needs to maintain a measured presence.
Plant your bulbs in spring, when the ground is thawed and dry enough to be worked. Install them about 15 cm (6 in) deep, leaving 30 cm (12 in) between them. Sun to partial shade exposure and good drainage are essential for their growth. Loosen the soil around each planting site and avoid depressions where water accumulates after rain. For pots, choose a container with drainage holes, deep enough to accommodate the planting. Water after planting, then monitor the moisture over the weeks, especially when the container dries out quickly.
During growth, adjust watering according to the weather and soil conditions: the soil should remain welcoming for the roots without becoming waterlogged. After flowering, remove spent blooms and keep the leaves until they naturally yellow. They allow the bulb to replenish its reserves for the next season. You can pair the red of ‘Tiny Rocket’ with green foliage or white flowers to maintain a clear composition. This lily is ornamental and not for consumption. Keep bulbs, plants, and cut flowers out of reach of cats, for whom lilies are highly toxic.
