Lily 'Zelmira'

‘Zelmira’ Lily (Lilium) displays peach and apricot-hued flowers atop green foliage. Its vertical silhouette makes it ideal for placement behind lower-growing plants, where its flowers remain visible without obstructing the foreground. For a soft color palette, pair its warm tones with white or green foliage. You can also use it as a solitary accent in a more restrained composition, to appreciate the form of the corollas as they open. Plant this lily in full sun or partial shade, in loose, well-draining soil. Plant the bulb with its base down and its tip up, at the depth appropriate for its packaging. Prepare a planting site wide enough for the roots to find loosened soil around them. If the site is exposed to wind, provide support before the stems grow tall, to avoid damaging the bulb later. After planting, water to bring the soil into contact with the roots, then adjust watering based on the actual moisture level of the soil.

After flowering, remove spent blooms but keep the green leaves. They allow the bulb to replenish its reserves before the plant's dormancy. Wait for the foliage to naturally yellow before cutting the dry stems. In a container, particularly monitor for dryness and avoid leaving water in the saucer.
