‘Dreamland’ calla lily bears white, funnel-shaped spathes edged in purplish pink around a yellow spadix. Its upright habit and height of about 40 cm add an elegant touch to pots, garden beds and summer bouquets. Each pack contains one dormant rhizome for spring planting, commonly sold as a calla lily bulb.

In Canada, wait until all risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed before planting outdoors. Choose full sun or partial shade and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Plant the rhizome about 10 cm deep with the growth buds facing up, allowing 30 cm between plants. Water during active growth without leaving the soil waterlogged or water standing in the saucer.

The soft colours pair well with pink, mauve and white flowers in containers or a patio-side planting. Remove faded flowers and allow the foliage to develop to replenish the rhizome. In fall, protect the plant from frost and store the dormant rhizome indoors in a cool, dry place. All parts of this ornamental plant are toxic if eaten; keep it away from children and pets, and wear gloves when handling it.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions
