From bulb to bloom

‘Titan Ballerina Blush’ is a dinnerplate dahlia with large, double flowers in very pale pink and cream tones. Growing approximately 1 m tall, with blooms that can reach about 25 cm across, it makes a striking addition to summer borders. Each package contains one clump of dahlia tubers for planting.

Plant in spring after the last local frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Set the tuber clump approximately 10 cm deep with the growing eyes facing upwards, and leave about 50 cm between plants. Install a sturdy stake at planting time to support the large flowers.

Its delicate shades pair well with white or mauve blooms and make generous cut-flower arrangements. Water at soil level without waterlogging, and remove spent flowers to encourage further blooming. In Canadian regions with freezing winters, lift the tubers after the first light frost blackens the foliage but before the ground freezes, then store them in a cool, frost-free place.
