From bulb to bloom

‘Tiramisu’ gladiolus produces tall spikes of dusky pink and burgundy flowers highlighted with white markings. Growing approximately 1 m tall, it adds vertical interest to borders and provides stems for late-summer bouquets. Each package contains eight corms for planting.

Plant in spring after the local risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed, in full sun and a position sheltered from strong winds. Choose fertile, well-drained soil. Set the corms approximately 10 cm deep with the pointed ends facing upwards, leaving about 10 cm between them. Provide support for the flower spikes if the site is exposed.

Water during dry weather and keep as many leaves as possible when cutting stems for arrangements. After flowering, allow the foliage to replenish the corms. In Canadian regions with freezing winters, lift them before frost, dry them in an airy place, and store healthy corms dry and frost-free for winter.
