‘Alvaro’, offered in the Starlily series, is an Oriental–Trumpet hybrid lily with fragrant double flowers in burgundy and cream. Recurved petals create an unusual outline on stems approximately 1.20 m tall during summer. Each package contains one 16/18 cm circumference bulb.

Plant in spring in fertile, well-drained soil, in sun or partial shade. Set the bulb point upwards approximately 15 cm deep, leaving about 40 cm between plants. Water at planting, then maintain even moisture during active growth without allowing water to collect. Add support where needed in windy locations.

Grow it in the middle or towards the back of a border, with cream or pink flowers that echo its colours. Remove spent blooms but retain the leaves until they yellow naturally; mulch helps keep the roots cool and protects the soil in winter. Despite its double flowers, this lily is highly toxic to cats: keep plants and cut flowers away from them.
