From bulb to bloom

‘Corsage’ is a tiger lily with recurved summer flowers in soft peach-pink, shading to creamy yellow with dark speckles towards the centre. Its delicate colouring brings lightness to garden borders and bouquets. Each package contains one 12/14 cm circumference bulb, growing into a plant approximately 80 cm tall.

Plant in spring as soon as the soil can be worked, keeping the bulb from drying out before planting. Choose sun or partial shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Set the bulb point upwards approximately 15 cm deep, allowing about 40 cm between plants. Water after planting and use a light mulch to help keep the roots cool.

Grow it among low-growing perennials that complement the flowers. Remove spent blooms but leave the foliage until it yellows naturally so the bulb can rebuild its reserves; water during dry spells without waterlogging. True lilies are highly toxic to cats, including their pollen and vase water: keep both plants and cut flowers away from them.
