From bulb to bloom

‘Wineberry Candy’ daylily bears soft pink to peach flowers with a broad burgundy eye and gently ruffled petals. This fragrant perennial flowers in summer and may rebloom when conditions are favourable. Each package contains one bare root for planting; fresh buds open in succession, although each flower lasts just one day.

Plant in spring when the ground has thawed, in fertile, well-drained soil. Sun or partial shade is suitable; avoid deep shade, which reduces flowering. Spread the roots out and position the crown approximately 2.5 cm below the soil surface, leaving about 60 cm between plants. Water after planting and during establishment.

Pair its gentle shades with cream flowers and purple foliage in garden borders. Maintain even moisture during flowering without standing water, then remove spent blooms and finished flower stems. Divide clumps when they become crowded. Daylilies are toxic to cats if ingested.
