‘Featherlight’ is an astilbe mix with feathery flower plumes in shades of pink, red and white. The summer blooms rise above divided green foliage, bringing a light, airy look to shaded garden beds. Each pack contains three bare-root astilbes for spring planting to create a small flowering display.

In Canada, plant in spring once the soil is workable. Choose partial shade and soil enriched with organic matter that retains moisture but drains well. Spread the roots in the planting hole and cover the growth buds lightly with soil. Water thoroughly to settle the plants and allow enough room for the clumps to develop without crowding.

Combine this trio with hostas, ferns and other shade perennials that enjoy moist soil. Water regularly during dry spells, as astilbes do not tolerate drying out and hot sun can scorch their leaves. Apply mulch to help keep the soil cool and moist. Leave the faded flower stems for winter interest if desired, then cut them back in spring before new shoots emerge.
