Bean 'Super Aguadulce' (Vicia faba) , offered by Weston Seeds

An exceptional European heirloom, the 'Super Aguadulce' bean is a highly prized variety for its impressive 8-9 inch long pods containing 7-8 large, tasty seeds. It is one of the most popular varieties in Europe due to its generous yield and remarkable quality.

Days to maturity: 50 to 55 days
Height: 24 to 34 inches
Plant Type: Medium Bush
Plant spacing: 14 to 18 inches apart
Exposure: Full sun
Sowing: Semi-direct

Cultivation method:

Broad beans thrive in light, well-drained soil with a pH around 6.5. They do not tolerate cold, wet soils, so it is essential to plant after the soil has reached a minimum temperature of 16°C (60°F).

Sow seeds directly outdoors 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep and 3 inches (8 cm) apart in rows 18 to 28 inches (45 to 70 cm) apart.

To ensure a continuous harvest, sow bush varieties every 10 days until mid-July. Be sure to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during flowering and pod formation. Handle plants only when leaves are dry to minimize the risk of disease.

Why choose the Super Aguadulce bean?

Ideal for gardeners and market gardeners, this variety stands out for its generous pods, its adaptability to different types of soil and its high yield. A sure bet for abundant and tasty harvests, to integrate into your spring and summer recipes.
