Perfect for salads, baked dishes or fermenting, this cabbage adds a splash of colour and flavour to your recipes.

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds indoors in a soilless mix 5 to 6 weeks before the last expected frost date. Plant seeds 1/4 inch (6 mm) deep and maintain a germination temperature of 70°F (20°C). When seedlings reach a sufficient size, grow them on at a slightly cooler temperature to encourage development, then harden them off before transplanting outdoors in late May.

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil, spacing plants 9 to 12 inches (23 to 30 cm) apart and rows 30 inches (75 cm) apart. Red Mammoth cabbage prefers cool days, with ideal temperatures of 55 to 70 °F (12 to 21 °C) during the day and 40 to 50 °F (4 to 10 °C) at night.

For best harvest, grow this variety in late summer to take advantage of cool fall temperatures. Spring to summer crops will not form as dense buds as those harvested in the fall.

A versatile and aesthetic variety:

Mammoth Red Cabbage is a must-have for gardeners looking for a reliable and tasty variety. It works well in fresh or cooked recipes, and its deep red color makes it a visually striking addition to your dishes. An easy-to-grow variety, ideal for both hobbyists and experienced gardeners.
