Carnation Chaubad Brilliant Red (Dianthus caryophyllus), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

The Chaubad Brilliant Red Carnation is a classic annual variety, known for its hardiness and large, bright red flowers with a delicate fragrance. Easy to grow and ideal for borders, beds or scented bouquets, this plant brings a touch of sophistication and intense color to any garden.

Plant Type: Annual
Height: 10 to 18 cm (4 to 7 inches)
Spacing: 10 to 18 cm (4 to 7 inches)
Sowing: Indoor/direct
Exposure: Full sun/partial shade
Quantity per pack: Untreated, non-GMO seeds

Cultivation method:

Sow directly outdoors after all risk of frost for spectacular blooms 6-8 weeks after sowing. For a quicker start, start indoors in early April. Gently press seeds into the soil without covering them, as they need light to germinate. Maintain a temperature of 20°C (70°F) for rapid germination in 5-10 days.

Grow seedlings under artificial light before hardening off and transplanting outdoors in late May, spacing plants 4 to 7 inches (10 to 18 cm) apart. Red Chabaud brilliant carnations prefer well-drained soil and a sunny location, but they also tolerate partial shade in areas with hot summers.

After the first bloom, prune the plants lightly to encourage a second flush of flowers. These beautiful red carnations will brighten up your garden all summer long with their vibrant glow and delicate fragrance.

Chabaud brilliant red carnations, a sure bet for classic and vibrant gardens!
