'Marketmore 76' cucumber (Cucumis sativus), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

The 'Marketmore 76' cucumber is a staple for home gardeners and farmers' markets alike. This high-yielding variety produces long, slender, dark green fruits measuring 20-22 cm that are perfectly uniform and ideal for slicing. Prized for its reliable productivity, it is resistant to several common diseases, including scab, cucumber mosaic virus, and late blight. It is one of the most widely grown cucumbers due to its consistent quality and ease of cultivation.

Height: 90 to 120 cm
Spacing: 30 to 35 cm (or 120 cm between hills)
Sowing: Indoor or direct sowing
Exposure: Full sun
Quantity per packet: 60 to 80 seeds, untreated, non-GMO

Cultivation method:
Cucumbers thrive in warm, rich, sandy loam soil that has been well worked to a depth of 30 cm (12 inches) with the addition of compost or well-rotted manure. Sow only when the soil temperature reaches at least 18°C (64°F) to prevent seed rot. Form mounds 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) high and 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24 inches) in diameter, spaced approximately 120 cm (48 inches) apart. Sow 6 to 8 seeds per mound at a depth of 2 cm (¾ inch), then thin to 3 or 4 plants after germination. Cucumbers readily climb trellises if space is limited. Water regularly to prevent bitterness and protect the plants from late frosts. Harvest by cutting the fruits from the vine with a sharp knife to avoid damaging the plants.

The availability of our seeds varies depending on seasonal availability, production schedules and supplier inventory. Certain varieties may only be offered for a limited time based on their natural growth cycle, sowing period or available stock.
