Fenugreek microgreens
identification
description
Fenugreek seeds for sprouting (Trigonella foenum-graecum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Fenugreek sprouts develop a unique, slightly spicy and warming flavor that varies depending on the light intensity during cultivation. Their fleshy stems and characteristic aroma make them a versatile sprout, excellent on their own or mixed with other varieties. Easy to grow, they offer a crisp texture and add aromatic depth to salads, sandwiches, lunch bowls, or sprout mixes.
Height: 4 to 6 cm (sprouts), 8 to 12 cm (microgreens)
Spacing: Close-cropped tray
Sowing: Soaking + indoor germination
Exposure: Direct or indirect light depending on the desired flavor
Quantity per packet: 90g of seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Use a germination tray and spread the seeds in an even layer. Soak for 4 to 8 hours in lukewarm water, then drain thoroughly. Rinse twice a day, ensuring good ventilation. Young shoots can be harvested in 4 to 5 days, while microgreens reach full development in 8 to 12 days. Their flavor is milder in the shade and more pronounced in bright light. Allow them to dry slightly before refrigerating for better preservation.
Soaking
Soak the seeds for 4 to 8 hours before germination to ensure even hydration and a quick start for the sprouts.
Yield
One tablespoon of seeds typically produces 1 to 2 cups of fresh sprouts, an excellent yield for simple, regular indoor growing.
Storage
Store unsprouted seeds in a cool, dry place. Refrigerating or freezing them will prolong their shelf life and ensure optimal germination.
