Leek microgreens
description
Leek sprouting (Allium porrum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Leek shoots develop slender, elongated stems with a delicate aroma reminiscent of fresh leeks. Their subtle flavor makes them a refined microgreen for salads, omelets, cold soups, or as a garnish. Their slender, elegant appearance adds a gourmet touch to dishes while offering simple and consistent cultivation.
Height: 5 to 8 cm (sprouts), 10 to 12 cm (microgreens)
Spacing: Close-cropped in jars
Sowing: Soaking + indoor germination
Exposure: Soft light
Quantity per packet: 4g of seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Soak the seeds, then place them in a tilted jar. Rinse twice a day and ensure thorough drainage. The thin sprouts will develop in a few days and are suitable for both short shoots and microgreens. Allow them to dry slightly before refrigerating to preserve their quality.
Soaking
Soak the seeds for 4 to 8 hours to promote even hydration.
Yield
Half a tablespoon of seeds produces approximately 2 to 3 cups of fragrant, thin sprouts.
Storage
Store the seeds in a cool, dry place. Refrigerating or freezing them will prolong their shelf life.
