Organic 'Parade' shallot (Allium fistulosum), offered by the seed company WH Perron

The organic 'Parade' bunching onion is a high-performing variety known for its long white stem and attractive blue-green foliage . It does not form a bulb , making it an excellent green onion for bunching. The stems are straight, tender, and crisp , easy to clean, and have a mild, fresh flavor that is highly prized in cooking. Its high yield and consistent quality make it a must-have in the vegetable garden.

Versatile and easy to grow , 'Parade' can be sown both indoors and outdoors as soon as the soil is prepared. It is ideal for gardeners seeking a quick and continuous harvest of high-quality green onions. Thinned seedlings are harvested young, optimizing space and allowing for multiple harvests throughout the season.

Type: Bunching onion
Maturity after sowing: Approximately 65 days
Color: White (stem), blue-green foliage

Cultivation method:

Sow the 'Parade' bunching onion indoors in early April or directly in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked. It prefers rich, fertile soil , whether mineral or organic, kept moist but not waterlogged . An application of fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season , followed by a second application when growth accelerates, promotes vigorous stems.

Space the rows 35 to 38 cm apart. To obtain thicker stems, thin to 3 to 5 cm apart ; the removed seedlings are delicious in salads. Regular watering and full sun ensure even and rapid growth.

Harvest :

Harvesting begins approximately 5 to 6 weeks after sowing, when the stems reach 15 to 20 cm . Harvest by gently pulling on the entire plant . Successive sowings allow for a longer harvest period.

Productive, clean and tasty!

With its long white stem, easy cleaning, and generous yield, the organic 'Parade' bunching onion is a reliable choice for regular harvests of fresh green onions. Simple to grow and versatile in the kitchen, it brings freshness and crunch to both the garden and the plate.
