Cultivation method:
Sow Impatiens 'Brilliant Gems' indoors 6 to 7 weeks before the last frost , maintaining a temperature of around 24°C (75°F ). The seeds do not need to be covered; if desired, add a very thin layer of vermiculite to help retain moisture. Light is not required for germination. Use a well-draining, porous seed-starting mix , and keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged.
Transplant outdoors once the risk of frost has passed. Loosen the soil to a depth of about 30 cm , enrich with compost, then carefully place the seedlings in the soil, gently loosening the roots if necessary. Adding organic bone meal or a soil activator can promote root development. Water regularly every 2 to 3 days until well established.
Outdoors, favour a cool, moist and rich soil , and maintain constant humidity to support abundant flowering.
Flowering and maintenance:
