Designed for a quick harvest , this mesclun is ideal for gardeners who want to enjoy fresh greens early in spring. Versatile and easy to cultivate, it is suitable for traditional vegetable gardens as well as containers and raised beds.

Latin name: Lactuca sativa
Maturity: Annual
Type: Mesclun
Maturity after sowing: Approximately 28 days
Color: Mixture of greens
Quantity per packet: Approximately 600 seeds
Formulation: Organic
Uses: Fresh salads, harvesting young leaves
Companion plants: Garlic, artichoke, beetroot, chervil, curly endive, cabbage, kohlrabi, cucumber, shallot, strawberry, lettuce, onion, turnip, parsnip, pea, radish, salsify
Nefarious plants: Celery, celeriac, parsley

Cultivation method:

Mesclun lettuce is often the first harvest of spring . It can be sown directly in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked, as it tolerates cool temperatures very well. For an even earlier harvest, it is possible to sow in a heated or unheated bed and then transplant into the garden in May. Germination is faster and more uniform when the soil temperature is between 10 and 15°C .

This crop prefers rich, well-drained soil . The seeds are sown very lightly, about 5 mm deep , and can be sown densely , as harvesting takes place at the young leaf stage. Full sun combined with consistent moisture promotes tender and flavorful foliage. Adding compost or well-rotted manure , along with mulch , helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Harvest :

Harvest the tender young leaves , ideally early in the morning , as they grow. This gradual harvesting method not only produces higher quality leaves but also delays seed production and extends the harvest period.

With its rapid growth, visual appeal, and delicate flavor , organic mesclun lettuce mix is a must-have for the spring vegetable garden. Easy to grow and bountiful, it brings freshness, variety, and elegance to all your salads, right from the first weeks of the season.
