Lupin 'Gallery' Mix
'Gallery' lupin mix (Lupinus polyphyllus), offered by seed company WH Perron
The 'Gallery' lupin mix is a compact and floriferous variety, ideal for adding vertical color to flowerbeds. It offers a superb assortment of flowers in various shades —dark blue, red, pink, yellow, and white—borne on dense, elegant spikes. The plants reach approximately 50 to 60 cm in height , with a well-balanced habit that is perfectly suited to residential gardens. The summer blooms are eye-catching and add elegant structure to borders.
Hardy and vigorous, the 'Gallery' lupin thrives particularly well in cooler climates . Like all legumes, it helps regenerate the soil by fixing nitrogen, making it an excellent choice for sustainable gardens. Grown in a group as a specimen plant or in the background of perennials, it provides a beautiful visual impact and can also be used for cut flowers . Deadheading spent blooms encourages a second flush of flowers in autumn and prolongs the plant's vigor.

For indoor sowing, sow approximately 6 weeks before planting out in the garden , at a temperature of 15 to 20°C . Use a well-drained and porous seed-starting mix to avoid excess moisture.
Direct sowing outdoors is also possible after the last frost .
In the garden, plant lupins in rich, organic, slightly acidic, and well-drained soil . Lupins prefer consistently moist soil, but not waterlogged conditions. Grow them in full sun or light partial shade . Mulching around the plants helps retain soil moisture, protects the roots in winter, and promotes longevity.
Maintenance and longevity:
Regularly removing faded flowers prevents self-seeding, which can sometimes be invasive, and encourages a second flowering in the fall . Lupins have an average lifespan of 3 to 4 years . In regions with very hot summers, their growth may be more difficult.
Colorful, structuring and beneficial to the soil!
The 'Gallery' lupin mix is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a colorful, structural, and eco-friendly perennial . Easy to incorporate into borders, beneficial to the soil, and spectacular in bloom, it brings charm and vitality to the garden year after year.
