Lemongrass ( Cymbopogon citratus)offered by the seed company WH Perron

Lemongrass is a tropical herbaceous plant that is highly prized in cooking, particularly in Thai and Indian cuisine. With its long, thick, pale green, fleshy stems, it gives off a subtle lemon flavor. It can be used fresh, dried, or powdered, and adds a unique flavor to soups, curries, and stir-fries. It is also a versatile herb that is also appreciated as a medicinal herb. Prefer a warm climate for optimal cultivation.

Maturity: Semi-hardy perennial
Plant height: 60-100 cm
Spread: 30-60 cm
Quantity per pack: Approximately 300 seeds
Formulation: Untreated / Germplus

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Plant seeds shallowly (about 0.5 cm) in light potting soil and maintain a temperature of 20-25°C for optimal germination. Transplant seedlings into the ground after the last frost, spacing them 30-60 cm apart.

Lemongrass prefers a full sun location and well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Water regularly to maintain moderate moisture. In cold climates, grow it in pots and bring it indoors in winter.

Harvest stems when plants are well established. Cut at the base of thicker stems to encourage regrowth. Use fresh or dry for longer storage.

Add lemongrass to your herb garden for an aromatic and convenient crop. Perfect for Asian cooking and infusions, it will bring an exotic and refreshing touch to your preparations.
