Dropshot marigold ( Tagetes filifolia ), offered by the seed company WH Perron

Dropshot Tagetes is an annual plant with fine, delicate foliage, known more for its aromatic properties than for its ornamental qualities. Its sweet foliage, with a pronounced taste of liquorice or anise, is perfect for enhancing beverages, teas, herbal teas or cooked dishes. With its globular shape and easy branching, Dropshot produces dense, compact plants, ideal for herb gardens or borders.

Latin name : Tagetes filifolia
Maturity : Annual
Plant height : 25-30 cm
Spread : 25-30 cm
Formulation : Untreated

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds directly into the ground or start indoors about 6 weeks before the last frost. Maintain a temperature of 65-68°F for best germination in 5-10 days. Plant in full sun in well-drained, fertile soil. Plants 10-12 inches apart and grow quickly into dense clumps.

Water regularly to keep the soil slightly moist, but avoid overwatering. Light fertilization can be applied during the season to support growth and foliage development.

Maintenance and advice:

Dropshot Tagetes is low maintenance and can withstand hot, dry conditions once established. Prune regularly to encourage compact growth and stimulate the production of fresh foliage. This aromatic plant can be grown in pots or in the ground, making it ideal for small spaces or balconies.
