Shelling bean 'Teggia' ( Phaseolus vulgaris ), offered by the seed company WH Perron

The shelling bean 'Teggia' is an elegant and versatile variety with 17-20cm long pods in shades of red and cream. This bean can be harvested fresh, with a delicious buttery flavour reminiscent of lima beans, or dried directly on the plant for a great supply of beans. Suitable for northern climates, thanks to its bushy and easy-to-grow plant, 'Teggia' is a great option for gardeners looking for yield and quality.

Maturity after sowing: 80 days
Fruit shape: Flat
Length: 17 to 20 cm
Caliber: Large
Type: Shelling
Color: Red and cream

Cultivation method:

Sow 'Teggia' bean seeds directly into the ground after the last frost, when the soil is well warmed. Plant 3 to 4 cm deep and space the plants 15 to 20 cm apart in rows 40 to 50 cm apart. Water regularly to maintain a constant but not excessive moisture level. The pods will mature in 80 days. Harvest them fresh to enjoy their buttery flavour, or let them dry on the plant to build up a supply of dried beans.

Add 'Teggia' beans to your garden to enjoy their unique beauty and versatility in cooking, whether fresh or dried!
