description
Spearmint ( Mentha spicata ), offered by the seed company WH Perron
Spearmint is the most popular variety of mint thanks to its leaves with a sweet, fruity aroma. Versatile, it has many uses in cooking, whether in desserts, drinks, or savory dishes. A perennial and vigorous plant, it spreads rapidly via its creeping stems, while producing pretty mauve flowers when mature.
Maturity: Perennial
Plant height: 30 to 60 cm
Spread: 40 cm
Formulation: Untreated
Latin name: Mentha spicata
Companion plants: Broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, pumpkin, squash, turnip, peas, radish, tomato

Cultivation method:
Sow spearmint seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, or directly outdoors after the last frost. Plant in well-drained, slightly moist soil in a sunny or partially shaded location. Space plants 30 to 40 cm apart. As mint can be invasive, it is advisable to grow it in a pot or bury a barrier to limit its spread. Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture and harvest the leaves as needed.
Add a touch of freshness to your dishes and drinks with spearmint, an easy-to-grow plant and an essential addition to any culinary garden!
