Indigo Blue Berries Tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ), offered by the seed company WH Perron

Indigo Blue Berries tomatoes are a remarkable organic variety, appealing both for their appearance and their flavor. The vigorous plants produce generous clusters of small cherry tomatoes weighing 25 to 50 g. Starting out green, they quickly develop purple shoulders and a pale body that matures to a deep black. These fruits contain high levels of anthocyanin, a natural antioxidant responsible for their indigo pigmentation, renowned for its health benefits. To fully enjoy their sparkling flavor and juicy texture, harvest them when their colors are at their most intense.

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Maintain a temperature of 72-80°F (22-26°C) for optimum germination in 7-14 days. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when they are 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Plant outdoors when all danger of frost has passed in fertile, well-drained soil with full sun.

Space plants 60 cm apart to promote good air circulation and optimal fruit development. Regular watering is essential, avoiding wetting the leaves to reduce the risk of disease. Stake plants, as their indeterminate shape requires good support to accompany their growth and abundant production.
