Popcorn
description
Popcorn corn (Zea mays everta), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
This classic yellow popcorn produces large, light, and flavorful white kernels that pop easily. Its reliable production and rich flavor make it a favorite among gardeners who want to grow their own popcorn. The vigorous plants produce full ears that are ideal for drying.
Height: 150 to 200 cm
Spacing: 25 to 30 cm
Sowing: Direct sowing
Exposure: Full sun
Quantity per packet: 25 to 30 seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Sow directly outdoors once the soil has warmed up, covering the seeds with 2 to 3 cm of soil. For good pollination, plant in clumps rather than single rows. Water regularly, especially during ear formation.
Allow the ears to ripen and dry completely on the plant before harvesting. Then shell the kernels and store them in a dry place until they burst.
