Turnip 'White Snowball'
'White Snowball' turnip (Brassica rapa), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
The White Snowball turnip produces beautiful, round, white roots that can be harvested at any stage, offering a sweet, juicy, and surprisingly fruity flavor. Delicious eaten raw like an apple or grated in salads, it is ideal for summer and autumn harvests thanks to its rapid growth and good virus resistance. Its tender texture makes it a versatile vegetable in the garden.
Height: 20 to 30 cm
Spacing: 10 to 15 cm
Sowing: Direct sowing
Exposure: Full sun or partial sun / Partial shade
Quantity per packet: 200 to 250 seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil has warmed up, at a shallow depth, in loose, well-drained soil. Maintain consistent moisture to encourage tender growth and prevent the roots from becoming fibrous. Thin to 10-15 cm apart to allow the roots to develop properly.
Sow seeds every two to three weeks to extend the harvest season. Harvest young for a milder flavor or let them mature for a firmer texture.
