'Tondo Piccante' hot pepper
description
'Tondo Piccante' hot pepper (Capsicum annuum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
The Tondo Piccante pepper produces small, round, 1½″ fruits that are initially dark green, then cherry red when ripe, offering a spicy heat ideal for flavored oils, marinades, or condiments. Their hot flavor and thick flesh make them an excellent choice for cooking, while the compact plants remain productive throughout the season. This variety is prized for its unique globe shape and excellent yield.

Sow indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost, lightly covering the seeds in warm potting soil. Maintain a temperature of 24 to 28°C for optimal germination. Transplant into individual pots when the seedlings have developed several true leaves and provide bright light.
Transplant into the garden after all risk of frost has passed, spacing the plants 30 to 35 cm apart in fertile, warm, and well-drained soil. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging, and mulch to retain moisture. The fruit ripens from green to red and is ready for harvest approximately 80 days after transplanting.
The Tondo Piccante offers a beautiful combination of flavor, spiciness, and productivity in a compact and decorative format.
