Thyme
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Thyme is a versatile culinary herb that perfectly enhances roasted meat, egg, cheese, or seafood dishes, and pairs wonderfully with zucchini, eggplant, and grilled mushrooms. Its low-growing plants, reaching 15 to 30 cm in height, form aromatic clumps that are highly attractive to bees, making it a prized herb for both gardeners and beekeepers. It is a hardy perennial in zone 5 when grown in well-drained soil and full sun.
Height: 15 to 30 cm
Spacing: 15 to 20 cm
Sowing: Indoor or direct sowing
Exposure: Sun, Partial Sun / Partial Shade, Light Shade
Quantity per packet: Untreated, non-GMO seeds
Cultivation method:
Sow indoors or directly outdoors, pressing the seeds lightly into the soil surface without covering them, as light promotes germination. Maintain moderate moisture and well-drained soil, as thyme does not tolerate overwatering. Germination may be slow and uneven.
Transplant or thin to 15-20 cm apart when the plants are sturdy enough. Grow in full sun for optimal flavor, or in light shade in very hot climates. Thyme, which requires little water, thrives in dry, sandy, or rocky soils.
